"First Tuesday" Series
ASMP/Alaska's "First Tuesday" series will resume in October 2010.

July 2-31, 2010, McKinley and Beyond, an exhibit of black and white photographs by veteran bush pilot and photographer Mark Stadsklev, at Stephens Fine Art Gallery in the Hotel Captain Cook gallery.
July 10-11, 2010, ASONP Photography workshop by photographer Carl Johnson, who has done some outstanding photography in Gates of the Arctic and other national parks. The workshop will introduce beginning and intermediate photographers to the equipment, composition, and beauty of landscape photography. It will include a introductory classroom session on July 10, field photography sessions the evening of July 10 and the morning of July 11, and an afternoon classroom critique on July 11. Cost is $70 for ASONP members/$80 for non-members. Campground reservations in Turnagain Pass are included in the registration fee. July 29, 2010, 7 p.m., Rarefied Light 2010 Juror's Lecture by Keith Carter. Keith Carter is a fine art photographer and teacher living in Beaumont, Texas. Keith Carter’s haunting, enigmatic photographs have been shown in over 100 solo exhibitions in 13 countries. Eleven books of his work have been published including a mid-career survey, Keith Carter Photographs/Twenty-Five Years. A documentary film: A Certain Alchemy, available in DVD, was released by Anthropy Arts, NY in 2006. The free lecture, at the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, is open to the public.

August 5, 2010, noon, "First Thursday" Photo Lunch at The Alaska Bagel Restaurant, 113 W. Northern Lights Blvd. No host, no agenda, lunch for anyone interested in photography, first Thursday of each month. Just come.
August 21, 2010, Alaska Society of Outdoor and Nature Photographers (ASONP) 25th Anniversary Celebration at Eklutna Lake. The ASONP board is planning on a full day of educational sessions, followed by a BBQ picnic later that evening (with a special anniversary cake). Join us for all or part of the day. ASONP has also reserved the group campground for August 20-22nd, so come Friday evening and camp out with other ASONP-ers prior to our Saturday anniversary event!
2010 Workshops: Hal Gage has posted several 2010 workshops on his web site. Dates have been set for his annual Glacier workshop and Close-up photography workshops (note the 10% discount on accommodations on the web page). For those with limited time but a sense of adventure, he is offering a two day field/classroom class on Turnagain Arm again this year in July.
