"First Tuesday" Series
March 2, 2010, 7 p.m., ASMP/Alaska's "First Tuesday" Slide/Lecture Series presents Glaciers and Granite: Trekking Patagonia by freelance photographers Matt Hage and Agnes Stowe in the auditorium of the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center. The program is open to the public; admission is free.

March 4, 2010, noon, "First Thursday" Photo Lunch at The Alaska Bagel Restaurant, 113 W. Northern Lights Blvd. No host, no agenda, lunch for anyone interested in photography, first Thursday of each month. Just come.
March 5, 2010, 8 p.m., Hal Gage will give a slide lecture about his 30 years as an artist on "First Friday" in the auditorium of the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center. "Not to worry," he said, "I have condensed 30 years into 30 minutes (plus Q&A). I'll have copies of my book, Ice: a passage through time, available for signing ($38.95)." The program is open to the public; admission is free.
March 9, 2010, 7 p.m. Alaska Society of Outdoor and Nature Photographers (ASONP) "Second Tuesday" program: Photographing Alaska's Shorebirds from the Copper River Delta to Arctic Breeding Grounds, presented by Milo Burcham. The program, in the auditorium at the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center, is open to the public. Admission is free.
2010 Workshops: Hal Gage has posted several 2010 workshops on his web site. A new computer workshop is devoted to the RAW camera format and Adobe's Bridge program (which comes with Photoshop CS4). He is also teaching a course on night and low light photography at the Anchorage Museum. If you're interested in photographing the night lights check out this class. Dates have been set for his annual Glacier workshop and Close-up photography workshops (note the 10% discount on accommodations on the web page). For those with limited time but a sense of adventure, he is offering a two day field/classroom class on Turnagain Arm again this year. There is both a winter workshop and a summer workshop.
FAIRBANKS AREA EVENTS:
March 6, 2010, Lens Fest. A juried exhibition at the Annex gallery opens at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 6th. A portraiture workshop and group critique at UAF from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. will be followed by a presentation of Jen Davis' work from 2-3 p.m.
